The Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative has developed a list of policy priorities for 2022 with actions aimed at addressing the root causes of poverty. These policy priorities were developed by RMAPI’s Policy Working Group after several months of meeting with local experts, community and government leaders, and representatives from non-profit agencies to determine which actions would be the most effective and the most needed to address poverty.
Advocacy

The policy priorities for 2022 include:
Raise Wages
Raise Wages to at least $15/hour as an important first step toward more livable wages
Equitable and Inclusive Decisions
Equitable and inclusive decisions with regard to how COVID relief funding is spent and how government decisions are made.
Decriminalize Poverty
Decriminalize poverty by changing the criminal justice system and focusing on reinvestment in communities
